About YPT

YPT's mission is simple: To help raise the level of training for young players.

We do this through advanced training programs for players, as well as, coaching education programs based on the European Model of Youth Player Development.
YPT (Youth Professional Taining) brings the best training methods and techniques from Europe's top professional club systems to the American player and coach.

For over 30 years top clubs in Europe have been perfecting what the MLS academies are just beginning to figure out about developing young soccer talent. At these professional European clubs, players are signed as 'youth professionals' as young as 8 and 9 years old. A contract at this age (8 - 18 years ) does not mean money but means that a player will receive some of the best training in the world, wear the clubs colors, and compete in a national youth league against other youth professionals from other clubs around the country, Europe, and the world.

At the end of each year, each youth professional is evaluated and either offered another contract, or asked to leave. If a youth professional stays in the system through age 18 he is virtually guaranteed a lucrative professional contract in one of the worlds top leagues. These clubs are in the business of winning championships. Their youth trainers are in the business of producing world class talent.

Every aspect of a youth professional's development is monitored during his time with the club. Players are also educated in the areas of nutrition and physical development. Expectations are just as high off the field, for a youth professional, as on the field. Academic progress is of primary importance. If a young player shows a decline in academic productivity he is not permitted to train, or compete, until his performance in the classroom improves.

YPT programs has its roots at some of the top professional club teams in Europe. YPT founder John Fisher, over the last several years, has spent significant time working closely with professional youth trainers from clubs such as Manchester United, PSV Eindhoven, Bayern Munich, and Ajax of Amsterdam. One of John's experiences gained national exposure in 1999 when
SOCCER AMERICA, Americas leading soccer publication, carried a story on his visit to one of the top clubs in Holland- PSV Eindhoven. Very few American trainers have had the opportunity to witness these highly sought after methods first hand. Very few young American players will have the opportunity to learn the game in this environment.
